Contest Summary
St. Eugene Catholic Church will hold its annual contest for the logo concept for the 2026 International Food and Music Festival from March 21 to April 12, 2026. This contest is open to all children/teens of our parish 14 years old or younger. Parish voting on the Finalists will take place the weekend of April 18-19. The winner will be announced the weekend of April 25-26.
Entry forms will be available until April 12: in PDF format online now (see bottom of this page) and in hard copy format in the Gathering Space at the church before and after the weekend Masses from March 21 to April 12.
Contest entries should be submitted by placing a hard copy in the contest drop box in the Gathering Space at the church before and after the weekend Masses. The deadline for submitting contest entries is April 12 at 1:30 PM. We are not accepting electronic submittals, which was a convenience provided only during the pandemic and its aftermath.
By early June we will offer for sale our traditional Festival T-shirts featuring the winning logo concept for the 24th Festival.

Rationale for the Rules
Hand-drawn Entries
The focus of the logo contest is the CONCEPT, not the refinement of the drawing. Use of computer-drawn logos, or even the hand-drawn tracing of a computer-drawn object in the logo, furnishes an unfair advantage to the more computer-savvy contestants.
3-Color Limit
Not only does each separate color that is used add to the cost of the T-shirts, but there is a strict upper limit to the number of colors that can be accommodated by the T-shirt printing process. Also bear in mind that colors are applied to the T-shirt by using inks; since, for example, light blue and dark blue use two different inks, they count as 2 colors not 1. Moreover, the more colorful logos tend to be more eye-catching and so attract more votes; this gives the entrants using more than 3 colors an advantage over those who stick to the 3-color limit.
Flags
Having flags from multiple countries in the logo makes it impossible to include the right colors for most of the flags. As an example, the last time we permitted flags was in 2023, and the total number of different primary colors (inks) in those flags was 9 (and this doesn't even count the colors used in the detailed emblems on 5 flags). If there are flags, we must include the US flag, and that automatically means that the 3 colors are red, white and blue, forcing the use of incorrect colors for the flags of most other countries, e.g., Mexico, whose flag makes heavy use of various shades of green, brown and aqua.
Food Drawings
Many foods (e.g., hot dogs, hamburgers, tacos) use dark yellow and brown colors. These show up very blandly on our T-shirts.
